Henry Fiore, a native of Queens, New York, was born around 1916 to Michael and Carmel Fiore, both Italian immigrants. After entering the United States Army as a private in May 1941, he initially joined Battery F of the 187th Field Artillery Regiment. Fiore was stationed at Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont, until at least mid-1942, and later served in the Pacific Theater with the 711th Tank Battalion after being promoted to lieutenant.
